Students' Block Prints

Quails: A series by Teresa Bunn

Quails: A series by Teresa Bunn

It was only a month ago that I taught the block printing class at Daniel Smith. So much has changed. .I’ve been asking myself how to keep calm and steady and I find my answers where I always have: in trees and birds, in gardens and in the wild. Avoiding the neighborhood parks I find myself walking in more industrial areas where people don’t go. And I’ve seen some great birds there. Nature goes on, sometimes very happily without us. Nature overlooks our arbitrary distinctions about what is beautiful We don’t have to stop looking at the world around us and making art about it. We can make art about the change, or we can find our subject matter where we always have, in the things that we value. I am sharing some of the block prints from that class a month ago. These subjects are what mean something to those students. Unique to each person. It is a pleasure to share with you and I plan to do much more of it in the coming days.
